I also suggest taking a look at the table below as it displays all the different types of Foreclosures and defaulted properties specific to individual markets. The reason being, defaults & Foreclosures are treated a little differently depending on where you live. But, for the most part, you can ignore the NODs, NTSs, NFSs, LISs, and REOs. Focus instead on the column that is labeled TOTAL.
The Total Column gives you the total number of Foreclosures for your state. The column next to it gives the number of households per one Foreclosure in your state. So for example, if you are in CA, the total number of Foreclosures in May was 92,249 and there was one Foreclosure for every 144 households, which (as the far right column shows) was an increase of 22.81% over last year.
