If
you were to ask me what one segment of the Real Estate Sales Process
was the most important
to a Real Estate Agent’s Career I’d say PROSPECTING. Without a doubt,
embracing the fact that you must prospect on a daily basis is the
one thing that will virtually guarantee your success or failure in
Real Estate. But, before you quit reading and dismiss this as just
another time someone is beating you up about Cold-Call-Prospecting,
let me elaborate. I’m not talking about Cold-Call-Prospecting.

There
are several types of Prospecting. A great analogy is a Gold Prospector.
There are times when he'll just go out into the cold, dark wilderness
and start looking for gold. Cold-Call-Prospecting equates to him just
going blindly into a location and starting to look. He doesn't know
anything about the location or whether anyone has ever found gold
there.
I want to propose to you that there are several levels of warmth when
you're talking about prospecting. What if our prospector heard a rumor,
was told by a friend, had a brother find some, or even bought a map
from a very reliable source? No matter what level of warmth the prospecting
is, he still has to head out there and start mining. For Real Estate
Agents, mining is making a sales call, and 97% us struggle
with it to some degree at different times.

My

underlying problem for you and I both is Sales Call Reluctance®.
Another research paper addressed it as Prospecting Distress. Whatever
name you give it, the underlying problem is a psychological
barrier that holds us back and keeps us from making the calls
we know can make or break our careers. It's not unique to Real Estate
Sales either; every sales person in the world has this condition.
It crosses language and cultural barriers and is a basic human condition.

Researchers
and scientists that I’ve recently teamed up with have spent the last
30+ years studying it and developing ways to diagnose and treat it.
The team we’ve aligned ourselves with has actually conducted over
900 separate research studies specific to salespeople and has

sales people worldwide in over 16 different countries.
These

affects their career and may lead to them leaving the sales profession.
If you add up all those statistics, just about 90% of all Real Estate
Salespeople struggle with Sales Call Reluctance®. I’d also venture
to bet that the other 10% are either in denial or just plain lying.
I’ve
been studying and conducting my own research specific to this new
development. This is a big deal if there ever was one.

I’ve
brought Don Cunningham back onboard, and he, like myself, is a Certified
Behavioral Analyst and Professional Coach to Real Estate Agents. He
