In education you are working to raise the knowledge base of the individual. The premise being that if the individual has greater knowledge they will produce at a higher level. If they are able to grab from a larger bucket or well of knowledge and resources and apply those, their performance will improve. They will enjoy a greater quality of life and more productivity. Education is valuable in increasing the efficiency in your actions. It can help you avoid mistakes that might otherwise have been unseen. Education does not ensure you implement or take action on this new found knowledge. You are left to craft implementation and execution strategies and hold yourself accountable to doing them.
Education could be reading a book, listening to podcasts, CD series, downloadable, mostly audio based information. A mastermind group is a wonderful example of education. It’s a wonderful arena of idea sharing, which has its place and benefits. That transition to success comes in application where you are frequently slogging through ideas alone outside the framework of a mastermind group. Don’t get me wrong the idea exchange of a mastermind group has great value.
Education is extremely valuable to all of us. We spend 12 years through elementary school, junior high and high school. We invest 4+ years in college to gain more educational opportunities. For many human beings, education stops at that point. My friend and mentor, the late Jim Rohn, expressed to me more than 25 years ago, “Your formal eduction will help you make a living. Your personal education will help you make a fortune.” You are reading my words as validated truth in that statement. The countless hours in my personal education has rewarded me with a fortune.
To back up my assertion, 42% of people who graduate from college never
read another book. That is almost half… staggering stat.
